Replace and Enhance Facial Volume With Juvederm

Smoothing wrinkles and folds, and giving your cheeks and lips a more voluminous more shapely form, can be very easily accomplished utilizing Juvederm Injectible Gel.

Just what is Juvederm? It's a gel made from a natural occuring substance in our bodies called hyaluronic acid. This gel binds with water to plump the skin for an immediate, dramatic fuller physical appearance that lasts up to a year then gradually breaks down and is then assimilated by the body naturally. The result is a natural, more youthful appearance. Its different than artificial fillers such as silicon in that it produces a more natural appearance and is safer. Most experts agree that Hyaluronic Acid fillers such as Juvederm are the products of choice for treating lines and wrinkles and adding volume to the cheeks and lips.

There are two popular forms of Juvederm; Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus. Juvederm Ultra is typically used for finer wrinkle correction, treating dark circles under the eyes, and lip enhancements. Juvederm Ultra Plus is a slightly thicker product and is used for shaping facial contours, correcting deep folds and for volume augmentation of the cheeks and lips. The results from Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus last about twice as long as collegen type fillers, and a few months longer than Restylane and Perlane.. Lip treatments with Juvederm last around six months, while smile lines, folds and cheek enhancements last up to around a year.

During your treatment: A Juvederm treatment generally takes less than an hour. Depending on the areas treated, more than one syringe may be needed to create the best look possible. To ensure your comfort during the treatment, lidocaine anesthetic may either be injected into the skin or may be used topically on the skin immediately before your treatment. The lidocaine wears off a few hours after the treatment.

What to expect after your treatment: After injection, common, temporary side effects may include tenderness, redness, itching, bruising, bumps, pain or swelling. These side effects usually disappear after a few days. These effects typically are most pronounced and longer lasting when the lips are treated but may occur on any part of the face. It's recommended you plan your treatments at least one week before any special events in case you experience swelling or bruising.

Preparation for your treatment:You can decrease the amount of bruising by avoiding Advil, aspirin, fish oil, vitamen E and other similar medications for a few weeks prior to your treatment. There's a natural substance called Amica Montana that you can take immediately after your treatment to further reduce side effects. We sell a physician-strength version at our office. If you have a history of cold sore outbreaks, you'll want to let your provider know. We also provide medication that will reduce this possibility as well.

Aftercare: Afterwards, its not advised to massage the area as this might shift the gel before it sets. If swelling occurs after lip treatment, sleeping on two pillows for the first two nights may help. Ice may also help.
